Tibetan Refugee Education – Pursuing Dreams

Bridge of Hope has been working with the Tibet Relief Fund to enable Tibetan refugee children living in India and Nepal to attend school. Bridge of Hope is presently sponsoring 20 children in Mussorie, Northern India.

Tenzin (pictured left), wants to become a nurse but her parents, both subsistence farmers, could not afford her schooling. She is now being educated and pursuing her dreams at a school in Mussoorie thanks to Bridge of Hope’s collaboration with the Tibet Relief Fund.

Working with a Nepalese project called “Empowering the Vision”, Bridge of Hope sponsored a young Tibetan refugee, Sonam, to pursue business studies in Kathmandu.

Having graduated he is teaching IT and thanks to Bridge of Hope he is now self-sufficient and helping to support his family.

Bridge of Hope is also contributing to the further education of Tsewang, a 24-year old Tibetan refugee living in the Jampaling Settlement near Pokhara, Nepal. Tsewang wants to become a Tibetan medical doctor.

Thanks to funding from Bridge of Hope and the Tibet Relief Fund, she is now enrolled in a traditional Tibetan medicine course at the Sowa Rigpa International College in Kathmandu.
